LONDON - Liam Gallagher says bands who don't want hit records are like "dicks" who wear sun cream on holiday.
The former Oasis star wants his new band Beady Eye to be massive all over the world and he thinks musicians who don't want success are as gutless as safety-first holidaymakers.
He angrily said: "It's like people who go on holiday, putting sun cream on. Do you want a tan or what, you dick? You go on a top holiday somewhere hot and you come back whiter than white. We're made to sound arrogant because of time wasters like that."
Liam's ambition for Beady Eye is for them to be as big as The Beatles, and even more popular than his first band Oasis. 
Liam's bandmate Andy Bell shares his lofty ambition and thinks all bands want to match the Fab Four's incredible accomplishments.
The guitarist said: "All bands deep down want to do that. The Strokes, Elbow all of them. If you sat any band in a room and said, 'Do you want to be as big as The Beatles?' they'd all say yes."

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus (who the fuck is she? They say Hannah Montana?) is using Oasis as the inspiration for her world tour (another Taylor Momsen?)
The singer/actress is currently on the South American leg of her Gypsy Heart World Tour but is taking a little piece of Oasis with her.
“I saw Oasis live a while back and I really loved how they kept asking for requests to keep the audience involved,” explains Miley.
“If you want to see someone just dance around you can watch it on DVD but I want this to be about everyone including the audience so I am trying to do something very similar because I know that’s what I would want to see.”

Noel Gallagher: The Roller is a fucking number 1 +"Yellow tail" video

LONDON - Beady Eye are again on the cover of NME, with photos from Milan.
We're on the road with Beady Eye from Glasgow to Milan as they complete their first ever tour. Expect a new crop of classic Liam-isms. Here's part of one now: "D'you want a tan or what, you dick?"
Beady Eye have spoken to NME about the secrets behind the tracks on their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'.
Gallagher, Andy Bell and Gem Archer revealed the history behind their debut single 'The Roller', which was written in 2001 and hailed by the singer's then-Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher as "a fucking Number One single".
The band also reveal that the intro music to their recent gigs is an instrumental song named 'Yellow Tail'. It was written by Archer and completed while rehearsing for the tour.
"Me and Andy, at the last rehearsal in Brixton, the day before [their first gig in] Glasgow, were still finishing it," he explained.
Meanwhile Gallagher also gave his verdict on Beady Eye's tour so far as NME follows the band throughout Europe. He also gave his thoughts on other bands including The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Elbow.

The singer once claimed he wanted to be more famous than Oasis but now he's told NME that he's setting his sights higher.
'I want to be as a big as The Beatles. Fuck being as big as Oasis, man, you know what I mean?'
But the star wasn't getting too cocky - he admitted that it probably wouldn't happen.
'I want to be bigger than The Beatles. That's what we're dealing with and whether we do or not - and we probably won't - but who cares?
'It's just the fcking name of the game. Yes, we want to sell a shitload of records, play stadiums and inspire shitloads of kids over the fucking universe. Deep down that's what I wanna do...but not just yet.'
Gallagher also used the interview to mouth off against The Strokes and Elbow.
Liam rubbished The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas for acting like it was a 'chore' for him to be in the band.
He also attacked Elbow saying they had a 'shit name for a band'.
'That's like calling yourself The Chins or The Knees or something!'

England national team's problem is the pressure. Just SUPPORT

LONDON - I bought other England stuff, also a sleeveless shirt as I like, Liam used that kind of shirt in the past.
I think the same as Beckham: that's the real problem, too much talking about the national team. Take these days: tonight there's a friendly match, England-Ghana, at Wembley as all England games.
And rivers of ink about it, controversies, arguing, all about a useless friendly.
Seen from the outside, it's even ridiculous.
Noel Gallagher: I don't even watch friendlies, it's useless.
Tonight Capello with England 1-1 and Prandelli with Italy winning 2-0 in Ukraine, they both used reserve players. Ukraine is hosting Euro 2012, with Poland (still maybe) because the poor Polish thieves (history repeating) have enough money just to corrupt Fifa staff and steal the Euro from Italy. Difficult to say who's more a thief in history between the french and the Poles... that's probably why they get on so well.
In London, 90,000 people at the full stadium to see a friendly, that's VERY nice. It would be great if it was the same in Italy for the national team, but it's all the contrary: they put their games in smaller stadiums because not many people go to see them, I've never even been to see an Italy game in my life, me that I'm a big football fan, imagine who is not.
But in England: again, tabloids talking shit, disturbing the team, writing too much about it.
I think Capello is doing great with England: superb qualifiers for the World Cup, that it was unlucky and we were out for a ghost goal, and now still first for the Euro qualifying.
Of course in some periods certain behaviours as players drinking, being crazy and not really athletes, it didn't help (in fact this doesn't happen in Italy). But it's not really about the players and the manager, they're good as it was in the past. It's not changing a manager or the players that things change so much. So many managers failed and England almost never won something important (only in 1966 and they say thanks to a ghost goal). So there must be something else behind. How come Italy won much more and it's even the 1st European team, 4 times world champion? It can't be only because the players were better, there must be something about the mentality, something repeating for decades.
Tabloids and all talking shit about our England: shut the fuck up and SUPPORT the team, even when things go bad, ESPECIALLY when thing go bad.

Liam: Coldplay have no sound

MILAN - Beady Eye will be on a Milan's radio where I worked, Radio 105 on 31 March.
Here's an interview on Berlusconi's brother newspaper from Milan, Il Giornale (conservative), photo in a club the other night (almost bunga bunga, lol).
Beady Eye in Milan confirmed they will play at the Heineken festival, with Coldplay (of course not at the same time onstage as Noel Gallagher did).
Liam said that Coldplay don't even have a "sound" (but talked well about the Vaccines). Beady Eye next album will be less "polluted" of Oasis, and he will never perform a show with Noel anymore. But he said that "unfortunately" someday the brothers will speak together (a few words). He denied he's drinking eh eh (3 months without drinking). Some compare Gallagher's behaviours to Balotelli's, in fact Liam likes him very much. Mario's crazy attitude is due to his difficult childhood (he was adopted and was racistly abused for a long time), as also Liam had a similar one.

Non c’è che dire: Liam Gallagher è un tipo rock. Ma rock sul serio. Tanti lo hanno adorato quando i suoi Oasis sono esplosi lanciando il britpop (ma che pop scusate??). Adesso però lo snobbano solo perché è ricco e famoso, si gode la vita e forse dice ancor più scemenze di quante ne dicesse agli esordi. Però è rock. Ieri l’ho incontrato negli uffici della Live Nation ed è stato molto più convincente di qualsiasi Pete Doherty, totalmente professionale, decisamente all’altezza. Qui di seguito pubblico il pezzo che ho scritto per il Giornale. Ma prima voglio dire che Different gear still speeding, il disco dei Beady Eye il nuovo gruppo di Liam Gallagher, è un bel disco. Non innovativo. Non travolgente. Ma bello. E suonato con le palle.

Ma certo, in fondo se il mensile fighetto lo ha incoronato «miglior frontman di tutti i tempi» mica dipende solo dal cappellino da nostromo, così bello tutto blu con le striscette rosse, che Liam Gallagher indossa stamattina sopra una frangia di capelli stile saracinesca. E neppure dalla voce: secca e liscia, appena rauca. Dipende dall’attitudine: che è rock, ma proprio rock e basta, anche se «migliore», cari signori, è un po’ esagerato. Ha fondato gli Oasis e, tanto che vendevano settanta milioni di dischi a bordo del britpop, ha sfondato suo fratello Noel dopo aver litigato per quindici anni di seguito insultandosi a vicenda la mamma. Fine della band. Poi, per vendicarsi, gli ha fregato pure quasi tutti i musicisti e ora, grazie a un disco di rock grezzo come lui, porterà i suoi Beady Eye il 9 giugno all’Heineken Jammin Festival di Mestre, tutto bello, tutto perfetto non fosse che canterà appena prima dei Coldplay, non proprio i suoi pupilli: «Infatti non ho neanche ascoltato il loro nuovo album».

E dire, caro Liam, che hanno anche un suono diverso dal solito.
«Perché, hanno un suono?».

Capito. Il vostro invece com’è?
«Quello che si ascolta nel nostro primo album, Different gear still speeding. Ruvido. Nel prossimo saremo più omogenei e meno inquinati dagli Oasis».

Vuol dire che lei e Noel non tornerete più a suonare insieme?
«Ma siamo matti?».

Due fratelli.
«Dal banalissimo litigio che ha sfasciato la band, nel 2009, non ci siamo più parlati. Ma, a dire il vero, ci parlavamo pochissimo anche prima, giusto il minimo indispensabile. Comunque il silenzio tra noi non sarà eterno, prima o poi torneremo a scambiarci due parole. Purtroppo».

L’alcol complicava le cose, vero?
«Un po’».

L’altra sera ha festeggiato allo Shed di Busto Arsizio.
«Ma non bevo da tre mesi. Niente».

Niente?
«Non ho tempo. Poi però, appena avrò meno lavoro…».

Occhio. Lei è di Manchester, tifoso storico del Manchester City e molti accostano le sue intemperanze a quelle di Mario Balotelli.
«Infatti mi piace molto».

E ti pareva.
«Le sue pazzie sono colpa dell’educazione e della sua famiglia. Se si calma, diventerà uno dei più grandi calciatori in circolazione. Vediamo».

Liam, il suo disco inizia con un brano che si intitola Four letter word. Si riferisce a Noel? O sottintende «Fuck»?
«Mah, il significato è diverso, in qualsiasi parte del mondo vada, ciascuno gli dà la propria traduzione».

Invece sul brano Beatles and Stones non ci dovrebbero essere dubbi sul significato. Sembra quasi un gioco, un piccolo omaggio alle due band.
«Io non gioco quando scrivo musica».

Vabbé, si fa per dire. Però il giro di chitarra ricorda molto gli Who.
«Allora diciamo che è un omaggio agli Who».

Beady Eye però sembra un nome preso da un fumetto.
«Ma no, stavamo cercando un nome che risaltasse bene sui giornali e questo era maledettamente perfetto. In poche parole, vuol dire “stai in campana”, “stai in guardia”. Più o meno quello che dobbiamo fare noi che siamo all’inizio di una nuova avventura».

Va bene tutto. Ma tanto il pubblico continuerà a chiederle i classici degli Oasis.
«Invece no. Finora abbiamo suonato tredici concerti e la gente era troppo curiosa di ascoltare i nuovi brani per richiedere quelli vecchi».

Però ha pubblicato solo un disco e le canzoni sono troppo poche per riempire un intero concerto.
«Faremo anche una cover, Sons of the stage, di una grande band di Manchester, i World of twist».

A proposito di band: gli Strokes?
«Orribile la copertina del nuovo cd».

I Vaccines?
«Molto meglio. Belle melodie e grande emozione».

Alla fine, caro Liam, l’hanno paragonata a John Lennon, lei si veste spesso come fosse ad Abbey Road e tanti la accusano di copiare i Beatles senza pudore. Ma sono davvero i suoi preferiti?
«Beh certo. Però i Kinks, scusi, dove li mette?».

the mystery of Heineken festival. Great success for the Beady Eye tour & album

MILAN - Gem today in Milan wearing RayBan sunglasses from Milan.
As anticipated time ago more than one time, Beady Eye now announced they will play at the Heineken festival in Venezia, Saint Marco lion city :), Venice, on 9 June my birthday and Pretty Green birthday :). Through their website another news "leaked": at the festival there will be (Coldplay) but also Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse. But the organizers of the festival said there are no Beady Eye and denied all.
Beady Eye @ Heineken first came out on Twitter on Cesare Cremonini account.

Liam changed opinion a bit about Twitter: he has branded it "rubbish".
The Beady Eye frontman claims that he's not a big fan of the micro-blogging site despite the fact his own Twitter page, with over 200,000 followers.
"I only tweet when someone's got it majorly wrong, you know what I mean? That's the way I use it," he told Absolute Radio.
He added: "If someone's barking up the wrong tree I sort of point them in the right direction, but other than that I'm not into tweeting - it's rubbish."
Gallagher's Twitter page was regularly used to promote his Pretty Green clothes label (no dear Nme, Pretty Green has another profile), although he last used it to spread some Christmas cheer in December (to Noel :).

Now some people wanted this project to kind of maybe fail, and the success of the tour and the success of the album have, yet again, proved these people wrong. Thats a nice position to be in, a comfortable position to be in, that you proved the critics wrong maybe?

Gem: Oh they of little faith. It’s not their job to have belief is it.

You had the belief, you knew it was going to be alright, yeah?

G: Yeah, born with the belief.

Liam, tell us a little bit about that first show as Beady Eye, when you stepped out onto stage, what do you remember?

It was great, man, but we’d been rehearsing for a couple of months before that so we knew what was going down, all we had to do, we’d done some great gigs in front of no one, you know what I mean, so we just had to put the kids in there. A bit of nerves and that, but a bit of relief that people seemed to take to us, you know what I mean, and it’s only going to get better. There’s no one screaming for Noel or Oasis or obscure songs, so that was nice.

Tell us a little bit about the clothing company. Where do these ideas come from, do you actually design all the clothes yourself? Talk it through.

Yeah, well its inspired by the 60s and that I suppose, that’s about it, bands and stuff. I’m not reinventing the wheel, I like that kind of style, you know what I mean, so that’s what we do. Me and Nicole, there’s a guy who does it with us, he just comes round and goes through our wardrobes, and anything that looks rubbish or a bit tired we sort of just breathe a bit of life into it.

At a certain point Liam made the gesture of "come on the stage" to the people, and so they went around him, but then the people working for that television were angry with them. Then we were all laughing, Beady Eye too. The crowd was also singing "Who the fuck are Man Utd" :) and a chant for Mario Balotelli, Liam appreciated. The girl presenting the show was a quite hot babe, and Jeff was looking at her very much :), appreciating.

Beady Eye new fans +Andy's favourites

MILAN - Tonight Beady Eye are eating in a restaurant (of a disco) in Busto Arsizio, lol (town near Milan).
Tomorrow they are in Milan again.
Liam Gallagher is playing festivals this summer to attract a legion of new fans to Beady Eye.
The band are playing several festival dates - including slots at Reading and Leeds and the Isle of Wight Festival - and the singer is keen to showcase his new music to people who might not necessarily be interested.
He said: "This is the name of the game, to fucking get new fans. I mean, obviously all the Oasis fans jumped on board and got involved and all that and liked it. But the music is there for anyone. Beady Eye is for anyone."
Liam - who formed his new group with the remaining members of Oasis - insists he is hungry to prove himself again to wide range of music fans.
He added to NME magazine: "Hopefully, there's going to be people out there that are getting a little bit more from Beady Eye than what they did from Oasis. There's not a day that goes by when you don't want to get up and fucking mean something to people."

LONDON - Behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, the "derby" Wales-England 0-2, well done guys&Capello.
It’s exactly a year since Noel Gallagher graced the stage at the Royal Albert Hall to play for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and tonight he was in danger of upstaging his younger brother’s new band without even showing up. This was thanks to a video montage that highlighted some of the previous artists that had performed at the event, prompting huge cheers every time Noel appeared on the screen. Liam was quick to put everyone straight as soon as he arrived on stage after being introduced by Who legend Rodger Daltry. “This aint no fookin’ Noel Gallagher gig” he sniped. Looking every inch the rock star, Liam swaggered towards his microphone, draped in a sharp navy suede jacket, sporting that trademark shaggy barnet that he made the must-have hairstyle of the 90’s for his legion of devotees. Launching straight into Four Letter Word, it’s clear that this song was born to open gigs. Loud, confident, menacing and sounding even better than it does on the record, the roof of the Royal Albert Hall is prematurely torn off.
Beatles and Stones finds Liam in an almost uncontrollably excitable mood. “I just wanna rock n’roll” he screams. It’s a simple message but very much to the point, and the crowd seem to echo his sentiments. There was the much expected army of Liam lookalikes in tonight, yet far less of that loutish behaviour that dogged down Oasis gigs. With that said, there is always going to be one isn’t there? Liam was the target of limes and Andy was hit with a pint – “cheers mate” was his sarcastic response. Liam was a little more vocal, goading this member of the audience to try and get one in his mouth as he veered toward the edge of the stage. “Who brings a lime to a fookin’ rock n’ roll gig? Fookin’ woman. It’s a first, I’ll give you that mate”. Despite this it is still a much more reserved affair than what the band would be used to under Oasis. Beady Eye are mature enough not to let it spoil a good night and like professionals they crack on. Two Of A Kind, a recent addition to their set list, is delivered with venom and gets people dancing to its irresistibly catchy thumping beat. The fact that this is a b-side is a testament to the strength and wealth of material the band had to choose from to put together their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, which on the whole is a solid record that has been received fairly well.
From the moment Liam delivered the first line of Four Letter Word , there is a startling revelation – he has found his voice again. We already know he sounds fantastic on the record, but it is his live performances he must be judged on. He’s attacking the microphone with a new-found confidence, holding notes and actually ‘singing’ as opposed to shouting. It is quite simply the best he has sounded since the late 90’s. Millionaire was a fine example of this new approach to his singing technique as he proved his voice to be the most powerful instrument on the stage. Perhaps he will stand the test of time like the Beatles and Stones after all.
The relationship between the crowd and the band was what made tonight special and the atmosphere ecstatic. On two occasions Liam left the stage to interact with the audience and shake the hands of his adoring fans. The crowd gave back the love by getting involved, digging the tunes and on occasions singing along, even if one of those occasions was an impromptu sing-along of the La’s There She Goes after the band performed For Anyone. Cheeky but amusing.
The Roller, their first official single, is showing signs of becoming a live favourite in the Beady Eye set list. It teeters on anthem status and tonight sparked a sing-along that would make Gem Archer’s mother very proud. Yet it was Bring The Light provoked which provoked the biggest reaction of the evening, bringing the Royal Albert Hall to its feet. Like many of the other tracks on the album, it sounds better in a live setting and encompasses the upbeat spirit that drives the sound of Beady Eye’s music. Liam used it as an opportunity to have a dig at his older brother, saying they were going to sit down on stools to sing it but someone had already taken them all, a jibe undoubtedly aimed at Noel who played here last year sat down on a stool for a semi acoustic performance (when Noel mocked Liam for Pretty Green - Marco).
The encore blessed us with a surprise that made this evening even more special. It was only a matter of time before they pulled this little beauty out of the bag and let it take on a new lease of life. Wigwam was performed live for the first time and the band were now reaching the peak of their powers. Liam nailed every single one of the ridiculously high notes and the song sounds even bigger than it does on the record. The second half the track proved to be a rousing climax and a memorable moment of the evening. The absence of backing singers to emulate exactly how it sounds on the record and belt out the “coming up” refrain was a slight disappointment, but they certainly compensate that with the music.
The band were in a jubilant mood and Liam was the happiest I’ve seen him on a stage in ages, even cracking a few smiles; a stark contrast to his subdued and frustrated appearances at Oasis gigs in their latter days. Tonight he grafted his balls off, putting 200% into every song. Gem looked like a teenager in his bedroom playing air guitar to his favourite band, oozing enthusiasm and pointing at Liam with a look that can only be interpreted as “fucking get on this”. Chris Sharrock continued to impress with his one man show at the back, throwing his sticks in the air, yet comically not always catching them again. Jeff Wootton on the bass fitted like a glove and Andy on guitar was just flawless. They threw themselves into this gig and demonstrated the sort of elation you would expect from a band of youngsters going out on the road for the first time. Despite Liam’s captivating stage presence, this is very much a team performance and the chemistry between them makes for tight musicianship and a glorious display of rock n’roll.
This is a band renenergised, hungry, excited, and above all, having a bloody good time. If not yet acknowledged for having the best tunes in the world, Beady Eye are definitely set to become known worldwide for their prowess as a brilliant live act. Sons Of The Stage they truly are.

Alan: dating a model, I found Oasis

LONDON - An old story I already told time ago. 
Well, Liam IS a model :)
Music legend Alan McGee has sourced plenty of great bands during his years in the business including The Libertines and Primal Scream – but his greatest discovery owes itself to a certain female figure.
The Glasgow mogul – who founded the legendary Creation Records – was just a love-struck young man when he entered King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on the city's St Vincent Street in May 1993.
Waiting to be set up with a model friend of his sisters, McGee took little note of the floppy haired Mancunian brothers raggedly setting up their instruments on the nearby stage.
However, a cruel twist of fate would result in McGee finding one of the greatest rock n’ roll bands in British music history.
Speaking to The Hour, McGee told the real story behind his discovery of Oasis and how he plans to cope with retirement from the industry he loves.
“I didn’t go looking for Oasis,” explained McGee. “I was actually chasing a model at the time but I can’t say who because she was my sister’s friend.
“The girl didn’t show up in the end but me and my sister stayed to watch this band, who turned out to be Oasis. So that’s actually why I was there.
“Most of my best signings have been to do with chasing women. It helps because girls usually know what’s good in music.” (I'm not so sure about this.......... in fact that girl wasn't there - Marco)
Now retired from the cut-throat music industry, the man who discovered some of Britain’s biggest bands is now working behind a film documenting his days with Creation Records.
Aptly titled Upside Down, the movie tells the story behind one of music’s biggest and most chaotic movements and how Britpop would change the nation’s musical tastes for years to come.
Although McGee admits that the days of The Beatles and Oasis are long gone he still has high hopes that his home city can produce some more music greats – even without his legendary eye for talent.
“I like some Scottish new bands. I like Glasvegas obviously and I like Pete Macloud.
“There are three cities that are really important in UK for music. Probably the most important city is Manchester, but Liverpool and Glasgow are also important.
“I think it’s the fact that these cities are all cultural centres for Irish people and that celtic-ness, it just kinda works."
Upside Down is currently showing at the SXSW film festival in Texas and is set for DVD release in the UK on May 9.

Liam mocking Noel

LONDON - Liam Gallagher took a dig at his brother Noel during Beady Eye's Teenage Cancer Trust show last night.
The former Oasis frontman made a number of remarks about his former bandmate as he performed at the Royal Albert Hall.
"This is Beady Eye," he announced as he swaggered onstage. "This is not a Noel Gallagher concert."
Throughout the show Liam continued to take pot shots at his brother.
"We were going to sit down to sing the next song," he told the crowd before launching into 'Bring The Light'. "But apparently someone who played here last year stole all the stools (ahahahaha - Marco). Apparently he's got a nice little collection going on and all." (lmao - Marco).
Later he quipped: "Where's Noel when you need him, eh?"
Noel played two shows for the charity at the same venue last year. During one of those shows he took a pop at Liam over his Pretty Green clothing range.
Beady Eye played a similar set to that featured on their recent UK tour, showcasing their debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'. They played 'Two Of A Kind' for the first time live.
Liam's name was often chanted by the crowd, but the singer wasn't happy with all the attention he received. He had an angry exchange with one fan after the crowd member seemingly threw something towards the stage.
"If you're going to throw something at me throw something hard," the singer sneered. "Who the fuck comes to a rock n' roll gig with a bit of lime, soft lad?"

Liam: Beady Eye aren't fucking scared of The Strokes

LONDON - Liam Gallagher has declared that he and his Beady Eye bandmates aren't scared of the competition at this summer's Reading And Leeds Festivals.
Beady Eye are set to headline the NME/Radio 1 Stage at the August events. The Strokes, Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp will all play Main Stage headline slots.
When asked about The Strokes Gallagher told NME: "We weren't fucking scared of them the first time we heard them. We're not fucking scared of them now!"
Speaking about how he thought he'd adapt to playing one of Beady Eye's first festival shows, he added: "I'll comfortably fucking fit back into that dress."

Liam's rider requests have changed over the years.
It used to be Red Stripe and decent crisps. On the current Beady Eye tour frontman Liam is firmly on the wagon - so it's honey, a few lemons and some fine china all the way.
He takes his teacup to the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer. But he said: "At the moment we're all bang into the little gigs."
Of the bigger shows, he added: "When the time comes, I'll fit back into that dress."

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way was devastated when he found out the schedule for the Reading and Leeds festival - because his band's headline slot means he will miss out on watching Beady Eye's highly-anticipated performance.
The Welcome to the Black Parade hitmakers are one of the bands topping the bill at the double-venue event this summer (Aug11), and they will play in the main arena while Liam's new band will perform at the same time on a separate stage.
Way admits he's overjoyed to be headlining the festival, but regrets he won't be able to see the former Oasis rocker play.
He tells NME magazine, "I really wanna see (Beady Eye play). That's quite a bummer. But that happens a lot... I would definitely love to have gotten to see Beady Eye... I'm a huge fan of (Liam), a fan of his brother and of Oasis, so I think it'll be fine. I think it'll be good."

Noel Gallagher recording solo album

See, I knew: yesterday I wrote Noel must hurry up and here's a good news :)
Ex-Oasis leader Noel Gallagher is working on his debut solo album in Los Angeles, according to You Me At Six singer Josh Franceschi.
Franceschi took to Twitter last night to reveal his band are recording in the same studios as Noel, and could hear the work being done: “Can hear Noel from Oasis blasting his new tunes from the studio next door,” he wrote. “Absolutely mental.”
The Surrey quintet are currently recording their third album in the US city.
Last month Gallagher claimed that he hadn't started work on his solo album yet. His brother Liam, now fronting Beady Eye, said he reckoned that he had, though.
Also last November Miles Kane said he'd been working with Noel on his first post-Oasis solo album.
The news suggests Noel could be working once again with producer Dave Sardy, whom he and Oasis recorded their sixth studio album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth‘ with in Los Angeles in 2005, while Sardy also joined the group in Abbey Road Studios for sessions on their final album ‘Dig Out Your Soul‘.
While Noel’s ex-Oasis bandmates have wasted no time in launching their own new project Beady Eye, the songwriter has repeatedly played down an imminent solo album, though rumours of work with the likes of Miles Kane and Paul Weller has fuelled speculation that a record will arrive sooner rather than later.

Rumours say the album will be published in October (first single in September) but as usual it'll take some more time...

If you were alive during the late ’90s and anywhere near a radio, you’re probably familiar with Oasis. Songs like “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” were part of the cultural soundtrack, and beaten into our collective memories like commercial jingles. But just as ubiquitous as the music were the bickering siblings who created it. Liam and Noel Gallagher – the singer and lead guitarist, respectively — attacked each other in a seemingly never-ending public feud. For almost a decade, they were the Lockhorns of Britpop. Sometimes it was just a war of words, and sometimes it escalated into actual violence involving cricket bats. It got especially ugly in August of 2009 when, prior to a performance at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival, the brothers got into a backstage brawl that purportedly involved punches and broken guitars. Not long after, Noel announced on the band’s website that he was quitting, claiming that “the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me … has become intolerable.” It seemed like the end, unless you knew anything at all about the history of Oasis, and then it just seemed like a temporary hiatus – a rock ‘n’ roll “time out,” if you will – until the brothers had a few pints and settled their differences long enough to make another album.
Shockingly, the truce never happened. Instead, Liam teamed up with his former Oasis mates – guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and touring drummer Chris Sharrock – and started a new group called Beady Eye. Their debut album, Different Gear Still Speeding may not be the next (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? But it certainly won’t have Oasis fans screaming, “What the hell is this shit?” The album more or less follows the creative aesthetic of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Time will tell if Beady Eye is the real deal or just a rebound band until Noel and Liam bury the hatchet. Personally, I wouldn’t complain if, at some point during the upcoming Beady Eye tour, Noel walked out on stage mid-set and joined the band for “Acquiesce”, the brothers harmonizing on “We need each other/We believe in one another” before collapsing into each other’s arms for some serious bro hugging. Not likely, sure. But stranger things have happened.
I spoke with Liam and Gem about the new band and old grudges. There’s a song on the album called “Four Letter Word,” in which Liam sings “I don’t know what it is I’m feeling/ A four letter word really gets my meaning.” That pretty much sums up how our conversation went.

What exactly does Beady Eye mean? (NEW QUESTION!! ahahaha) It doesn’t sound like the most flattering description. Is it like a lazy eye?

Liam: Dunno. It’s a phrase or something.

Gem: Yeah, it’s an English phrase. And it can be unflattering. It can be negative or positive. “I’ve got my beady eye on you!”

So it’s a threat?

G: It can be. It’s what a teacher might say to the funky kid at the back of the class. “I’ve got my beady eye on you!” Nobody’s getting the wool pulled over their eyes.

Why didn’t you guys just continue on as Oasis? You lost one member, but it’s still got a majority of the original band. Pink Floyd went on without Roger Waters. The Who were just Daltrey and Townshend for awhile. I don’t think Lynyrd Skynyrd has anybody from the original lineup anymore. Why can’t you do the same thing?

L: We could’ve if we wanted, but we’ve got a lot more fucking self-respect. It’s why we don’t fucking play somebody else’s fucking songs when we can make our own.

Will you be playing any Oasis songs on the Beady Eye tour?
(NEW QUESTION!! ahahaha Please dear fucking "journalists", put it in your minds: the truth is that Beady Eye just CAN'T play Oasis songs, they're copyrighted and they should give some money to Noel! -Marco)

L and G: [simultaneously] Nope.

You won’t even slip an old favorite into the setlist?

L: I think it’d be schizophrenic, man. You know what I mean? Jumping from one to the other is fucking weird. It’s just fucking mental. Get over it. Oasis is yesterday. It’s fucking done.

If Oasis was the Beatles, as it’s sometimes been claimed, then what does that make Beady Eye? Is it Wings or the Plastic Ono Band?

G: Well, that’s for people who compare Oasis with the Beatles to answer.

But Liam, didn’t you once say that Oasis would be as big as the Beatles, if not bigger?

L: Not me, mate. I think you’ll find it was the little fellow who said that. But I got blamed for it.

You’ve at least admitted a fondness for John Lennon. And there’s a song on the new album, “Roller”, that sounds vaguely like “Instant Karma.” (OH THIS IS NEW!! ahahaha It's a song by Gem, not by Liam)
Is that subconscious, or is it an intentional homage?

L: It’s not intentional at all. We leave that kind of shit up to Lenny Kravitz and people like that.
G: I get the comparison. It’s a descending line played on a piano with a double-track vocal. But those are just elements. The other element is, Lennon is as much a part of my DNA as I’m sure Guinness is.

Guinness as in the beer? (...was the journalist drunk or what?)

G: Yeah, mate. It’s all in there. All of our influences are in there. I’ve been into Lennon since I was 8 years old. So that’s just how it comes out. We don’t hide it. [laughs] Well, sometimes we do.

Liam, last summer you said that Beady Eye’s debut would be “the best record you’ll hear for the next 50 years.” Do you stand by that prediction?

L: Yep.

So you’re saying that every album made in the next 50 years, including any subsequent albums by you or Beady Eye, will be crap by comparison? (crap? the journalist was definitely drunk or an idiot) Are you preemptively announcing your retirement?

L: No, no, no. I probably just got excited about what we were doing. You know what I’m like. It’s just my way of saying, “It’s a great fucking album, and it’s got some amazing fucking songs.” I hope the next one we do is even better than this one. And I hope it inspires other people to make great records.

Do you want to go ahead and predict a few Grammy nominations for Different Gear, Still Speeding?

L: If it happens, it happens, but I’m not going to go begging for it. You know who wins fucking Grammys? Fucking U2 and Coldplay.

G: Awards never really cross our minds.

L: Clutter. You know what it is? It’s just clutter!

Is that why last year when you got a BRIT Award, you threw it into the crowd?

L: I didn’t throw it at anybody. I underarmed it and passed it to them. It’s more the fan’s award than mine anyway. If I fucking threw something at somebody, you’d fucking know about it. I gently threw it towards them and said, “You have it. It’s your fucking award.”

Liam, you’ve said in the past that you don’t know what your songs are about. Does that include Beady Eye songs?

L: It does. That’s entirely accurate. I don’t know what they’re about.

What about “Beatles and Stones”? “I’m gonna stand the test of time, like the Beatles and Stones.” That seems pretty self-explanatory.

L: That one, sure. But in general, I don’t want to know what they’re about. I’d rather other people tell me what they’re about.

How do you come up with lyrics? Is it free association? Do you just sing the first thing that pops into your head, or do you sit down with a pad of paper and think it through?

L: If I decided to sit down and write a song, I’d fucking still be there right now, working on the first line. I don’t do it that way.

Does the band write collectively, when you’re all in the same room?

G: We all write individually and bring in our ideas. In general, Liam will play us something on his laptop or whatever, and we’ll sit around with our guitars and decide how to dress it up. What kind of drumbeat will it be? Does it need a guitar solo? So yeah, it’s very collective.

A lot of the excitement and creative energy in Oasis was the tension between Liam and Noel. Where’s the tension in this band?

G: We don’t have any of that tension anymore. It’s useless. It’s just fucking rubbish.

L: I don’t think tension makes for great records. That’s a load of bollocks.

What about the Rolling Stones? Keith Richards and Mick Jagger weren’t exactly giving each other back rubs. Keith said some pretty nasty things about Mick in his memoir.

L: Yeah, and what have they fucking done for the last twenty-five fucking years?

G: I get the thing about creative tension. And I understand it. But I’ve worked with Jimmy Miller (who produced classic Stones albums like Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St.) and he says they were ready to clean up their act when they started working on those albums. They put the fucking petty shit aside and focused on the music. They didn’t bring it into the studio or on the stage.

How about other bands? Oasis had a long-standing rivalry with Blur. Do you have a musical arch-nemesis for 2011?

L: Naw, man. That shit is just a wind-up, isn’t it? Just to see what they’re fucking made of. And they were made of fuck all. [At this point, Liam launched into a tirade that was likely hilarious and poignant, but was spoken in a dialectic I can only describe as a “Manchester Grumble.” I listened to the tape repeatedly, using the most advanced technology, and I still have no clue what he was saying. The only words I was able to identify were variations on “fuck,” used in at least a dozen instances. And at one point, I’m almost positive he said, “It makes me want to fucking throw up!” But I can’t be sure. Journalistic integrity forbids me from making educated guesses. So use your imagination, and be sure to include plenty of expletives. - and what about journalistic idiocy?] You know what I mean?

[Long, awkward pause] I … think so.

L: I was just like, “Fuck off!” Makes me want to laugh.

Let’s talk about Noel (ALSO NOT! :) You know Liam doesn't like that). You’ve said repeatedly that Oasis is finished. But is there any chance for a reconciliation?

L: No. It’s done, mate. It’s over.

There’s no circumstance in which you’d reconsider?

L: I’m not money driven, and I wouldn’t cheat myself or anybody else out of being the real deal. We’re not going back, we’re going forward.

Well sure, but in the Beady Eye song “Kill For A Dream,” you say “Life’s too short not to forgive/You can carry regrets but they won’t let you live/I’m here if you wanna call.” (inform yourself, you ignorant. AGAIN: IT'S A SONG BY ANDY, AND IT WAS WRITTEN BEFORE THE SPLIT!). Does that not apply to Noel?

L: I’m not getting Oasis back together! We did everything we were supposed to do. That’s the legacy, and we have the fucking balls enough to leave it alone.

Even if he calls and says, “I fucked up, Liam, I’m sorry?”

L: Even if he brought me fucking cheesecake.

As a fan, it’s hard not to be nostalgic for the old songs. You call yourselves Beady Eyes (eyes?), but you look almost exactly like Oasis. All we want is a little “Champagne Supernova.” You can’t help us out?

L: No.

Even a few chords, just for old time’s sake?

L: No.

Pretty please with sugar on top?

L: No! I wouldn’t insult the fans or ourselves by doing that. That shit is over. We moved on. You want to hear the old stuff, I’m sure our kid (Liam’s nickname for Noel) will be playing somewhere.

What about artists who cover Oasis songs? Do you care for any of it? What did you think about Ryan Adams’ version of “Wonderwall”?

L: It’s shit to me, man. I like Ryan Adams and I like some of his songs. But I hated what he did with “Wonderwall.” (I think the same, only Noel likes that depressing shit version - Marco)

G: He’s done a lot of really great tunes. He’s the real deal. But I agree with what Liam said, it didn’t ring true at all.

L: It’s not his fault. To be quite honest, I’ve never really cared for the original either.

Formula 1 2011, different year still speeding. And you say to the driver: just drive

MILAN - On Friday 25 (that is also the real beginning of the year, you remember my old posts) the Formula One season starts: the first race (should have been the other week in Bahrain, cancelled due to the situation in the country) is on Sunday at dawn in Europe, 'cause it's in Australia, so we have to get up early (or better: stay up late), as my grandfather used to do with boxing (Noel Gallagher is a big fan too).
Something new is the tyres, the Italian Pirelli from Milan (Inter Milan historical sponsor... the second team of Milan already cheated thanks to sponsors...), same tyres for everybody (so they will probably help Ferrari somehow, they'll surely find a way), and no more the Japanese Bridgestone.
Beady Eye album is a lot about cars, even the title Different gear still speeding.
OasisBlues, as usual, will get angry against the stupid men commenting on tv and also against Ferrari (though they have Manchester City sponsor :) and we support the English McLaren from Woking (Paul Weller's city) and their English drivers (Oasis fans), one of them, Hamilton, has the number 3 (ring Formula 1 circus :).
It doesn't seem to be the fastest car this year, but some sources say they will surprise everybody, because they made different choices...
Can't wait for September, Monza Grand Prix near Milan, also to meet the drivers again, and the concert @ Formula 1 Rocks Milan (last year: the great Stereophonics).

Beady Eye & friends to play for Japan on Mother's Day

A few years back Liam Gallagher felt more strongly about his sausage dog Ruby than he did about charity.
But in the last few months he has dramatically changed his tune.
The generous rocker has earned a small fortune for Teenage Cancer Trust by donating proceeds from a specially designed Pretty Green T-shirt.
And now he is putting on a charity gig to raise money for the victims of the disaster in Japan (Japan Disaster Benefit in aid of the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal).
Liam and his Beady Eye bandmates will headline a benefit gig at Brixton Academy on Mother's Day, Sunday April 3 (in Italy the Mother's Day is the first Sunday of May).
The singer has persuaded Modfather Paul Weller, Richard Ashcroft, Primal Scream, Graham Coxon and The Coral to join the bill.
A source said: "Liam has been shocked by the footage of the devastation in Japan.
"Oasis were, and still are, hugely popular out there. The band have always been treated like kings so he wants to do his bit.
"Graham has mentioned the gig to Damon Albarn. It could be the end of one of the most famous British rock 'n' roll feuds ever if he shows up."

Liam's fighting talk vs the Special Clown

MADRID - Liam Gallagher has been busy causing mischief on tour in Europe.
During the Beady Eye gig in Madrid at the weekend, the singer decided to egg on the crowd with a dig at Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho.
He shouted: "There's only one boss in this town, and if Jose's here I'll have him."
The local fans refused to take the bait, greeting the band by chanting: "Ole, ole, ole, ole."

Beady Eye will release their second single ‘Millionaire’ on 2nd May 2011. The track is taken from their recently released debut album ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ which entered the UK charts at No. 3 and has subsequently gone gold. The album has charted around the world, including No.1 in Japan.
‘Millionaire’ will be available digitally and as a 7” single with ‘Man Of Misery’ (already a live favourite) as the b-side.

Pretty Green Italy

MILAN - Beady Pretty Italy. Today it's spring. Remember the Pretty Green Italy blog (but of course it's not only about Italy), where are the main posts about it since the beginning of Pretty Green (11 March 2009 in Milan, the 2nd "birthday" was some days ago, though Pretty Green officially celebrates its birthdays on the official launch day, 9 June, that is also my birthday), so it's easier to read the articles about it, with less stuff around, bigger images, etc.  
soon I'm gonna remove the "blogspot" and add more old stuff and make some changes, as in a few time there's gonna be a shop in Milan too (let's say months...first New York and Japan, they're far away so they need a shop there). You know, posts, comments and all can be easily "transferred" from a web to another one. 
By the way, I was enthusiastic when we anticipated Beady Eye @ Venice Heineken festival on 9 June, and it seems they will be there but I'm thinking that if they play just a few songs and then it's all about fucking Coldplay and other stupid bands then I'm not going. Oasis used to play many songs also at festivals (also at the famous Heineken that time when Liam "lost the voice", but haters insulted him).

North Italy against the war: never agree with the french

You probably know, sometimes I already wrote about the North Italy political party, called "Lega Nord" (Northern League). Its flag is a Christian Saint George flag as England's and Milan's, that is North Italy's capital city. They also use the Saint Marco lion flag. Their colour is green (but they're not the Greens hated by Noel Gallagher :). Their political program advocates the transformation of Italy into a federal state and regional autonomy, especially for the Northern regions, and at times it has advocated the secession of the North, which they call Padania (from the Northern green plain).
The party has been growing a lot, becoming very popular (somewhere even in the South), the 3rd party in Italy beside the two main ones (right and left wing), though this is also a right wing one (often the 1st or 2nd party in Northern regions). The main characteristic is supporting the local traditions, cultures, dialect languages, etc. They don't identify themselves in Italy as a nation, and even have a different anthem (the famous Va pensiero, sull'ali dorate - Go thought, on golden wings - by the legendary Verdi, you can listen on the right column, Milan 2015 Expo), and not the Italian anthem "Fratelli d'Italia" (brothers of Italy, that is an old one also saying that Italy is "slave of Rome" - this party hates Rome, calling it "Roma ladrona", big thief - referring to taxes by the government in Rome, etc., because Northern people usually work very much in comparison to Centre-South Italy). Sometimes I don't like Lega Nord, but there are people who hate them, saying they're racist (for some episode), but of course it's not true, and there are also many foreign, black, etc. people following their ideas, working for them, becoming mayors, etc.

Today their leader Umberto Bossi (he had some serious health problems years ago and now to his fans he looks like a hero) said it was better to be careful as Germany did, and that bombing Libya will give as result millions of poor immigrants going to live in other countries: pacifist communists (who already decided to be at war, for example in the Balkans) are probably happy with this war, as immigrants are now the only people who could still vote for them.
In the past he already said you shouldn't trust the French (sorry for the capital letter, too much importance). Today he was remembering the "democratic" dictator Napoleon, the criminal thief who killed and stole everything, works of art, etc. especially in the North of Italy. And Bossi said he would rather make agreements with the neutral Swiss, and not with Usa and France.

It's funny now to see France to be the first one bombing... they bomb only when the enemy is very weak... (Gaddafi has almost nothing and can't reach anything, and against all those countries he sounds as a ridiculous madman). Not a case that the French never won 1 war in their whole history. About Libya they're clearly thinking about their interests (oil). Rumours say that today in their first attack they even had a loss... (a fighter plane destroyed)


Umberto Bossi sempre più contro l'intervento in Libia. "Nei confronti della Libia era meglio essere più cauti così come deciso dalla Germania", ha dichiarato il leader della Lega ad Erba per festeggiare i 20 anni della sede locale del partito. Secondo il leader della Lega adesso il rischio è che «con i bombardamenti che stiamo facendo qui da noi verranno milioni di immigrati: scappano tutti e vengono qua». Bossi sostiene che in Consiglio dei ministri era stata concordata una linea più cauta e accusa "qualche ministro di parlare a vanvera". E ancora: "La sinistra sarà contenta di quel che succede in Nordafrica perchè per loro conta solo portar qui un sacco di immigrati e dargli il voto. È questo l’unico modo che hanno per vincere le elezioni». Commentando le dichiarazioni di Berlusconi sul fatto che fosse necessario intervenire in Libia, Bossi ha risposto: «So quello che dice Berlusconi, penso però che ci porteranno via il petrolio e il gas».

I Napoleoni democratici
«Il mondo è pieno di famosi democratici, che sono abilissimi a fare i loro interessi, mentre noi siamo abilissimi a prenderla in quel posto: il maggior coraggio a volte è la cautela». Bossi non ha mai nominato direttamente chi siano questi grandi ’democraticì e nemmeno il presidente francese Nicolas Sarkozy. Tuttavia si è lasciato sfuggire una battuta: «I famosi democratici, da Napoleone in poi li conosciamo bene...». Aggiungendo infine che «più che con la Francia e gli Stati Uniti se c’è da fare un accordo lo farei con un popolo amico, gli svizzeri», un paese da sempre neutrale.

Japan charity gig + Millionaire 2nd single

MILAN - Two news given in Milan from Beady Eye: a charity concert for Japan (photo: Oasis fans) and Millionaire 2nd single, as anticipated the other day.

Liam Gallagher has revealed that Beady Eye are trying to arrange a charity gig to help those affected by the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami.
The band who were asked about the situation in Japan in a recent Italian interview said they were unsure whether their upcoming tour in the country would take place with Andy Bell revealing: “Yeah, what’s happened there is very, very sad, quite shocking and it keeps getting worse as well everyday so we don’t know what’s gonna happen. We’re supposed to be going out there in a few weeks and we hope to still do it but we’ll have to wait and see what they say.”
Gem Archer then went on to speak about his memories of the city that suffered the shocking natural disaster last week. “We actually played Sendai.. I’ve got memories of coming out the van there, it was snowing when we played. So its not like its just some situation that’s out of our own experience.”
The bands frontman Liam then announced plans to put together some sort of benefit gig to help raise cash for the country saying: “We’re tryna get a benefit gig for them at the moment so that’s going on as we speak. We’ve got lots of mates in bands, and maybe do a charity gig to help them out.”

Some days ago there was this news, but probably half invented by tabloids.

Colonel Gaddafi has a new enemy – Liam Gallagher! The ex-Oasis frontman sent good wishes and offered cash to Libyan rebels squatting in the home of the tyrant’s son Saif.
Protesters have taken over the £11million mansion in protest at the dictator’s hellish regime.
Liam, 38, who lives just three streets away from the Hampstead pad in north London, waded in with his own Masterplan.
An aide of the singer arrived at the house last week and told the squatters: “I’m here on behalf of a wealthy neighbour who would like to help your cause. If you need money, I’ll go and get it.”
One of the squatters said: “We asked him who this mystery man was but he wouldn’t say. Eventually he said he was from the music industry, one of the Oasis brothers.
“He then confirmed it was this man, Liam Gallagher.
“He said he wanted, ‘freedom, man, freedom’.
“We politely declined the offer but thanked him for his generosity.”
The squatters have vowed to stay holed-up in the eight-bed mansion until Gaddafi falls.

MANCHESTER - They should know if they insulted Mario in Italy they would get €5,000 to pay, as Inter had. Yes, England of "fair play", rules, etc. But as usual, they stay behind a computer, calling cowards other people. Balotelli was wrong in his gesture, it's a red card (or maybe just a yellow, seen what happens in England), but if you have eyes to see, he didn't even touch the Dynamo Kyiv player at first. And he immediately went to him to say sorry. There's no madness in all this, but tabloids wrote that he's mad, stupid, idiot, coward, etc. and that even the POLICE was necessary... hilarious.
Manchester City manager Mancini said it was stupid what Mario has done, and NOT that Mario is stupid, idiot, coward. Difference!
Probably Mario is doing that on purpose, 'cause as we anticipated, he already signed for AC Milan. Yes Mario, go away from England, they don't deserve to have you there.

Then they were very amused, 'cause there's a video with Mario not able to put a bib on, so they fooled him around. They're frustrated people with nothing to have fun with, and clearly jealous 'cause Mario is able to put a condom on, to fuck beautiful babes. I just found one of the same Mario age from Ireland insulting, he spends his time playing videogames. All of them, England, Ireland, Manchester City, Chelsea, etc. have an Italian coach, so when things go wrong it's easy for the tabloids to attack them. A foreign manager from the 4-times-world-champion country is ideal for their inferiority complexes, so they can vent their hatred.

The Scotsman Joe Jordan, insulting Gattuso in Milan-Tottenham, when tabloids called Milan people "mafiosi" and "Milanimals" ('cause they like to play with words as Shakespeare), got suspended for 1 match. A little justice was done.

Liam: I am Superman... you're going to pull a really nice-looking girl wearing Pretty Green

In August it'll be 20 years since Gallagher and his brother Noel first took the stage as Oasis. It'll be almost two since they broke up backstage in Paris in a shower of guitar splinters. As in a proper divorce, Noel cited Liam's "verbal and violent intimidation." Meanwhile, Liam, 38, took custody of guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell (now on guitar), and drummer Chris Sharrock, renamed the group Beady Eye, and recorded Different Gear, Still Speeding. Fresh from rehearsals for their inaugural tour, he swaggers into the band's London management office wearing a green parka and a fedora from his Pretty Green clothing line. Today he had an epiphany: "Guess what, mate? I reckon I'm in the best fucking band in the world. Twice that's happened now. Mega, isn't it?"

Is Beady Eye really a new band? It's Oasis without the songwriter.
Course it's a new band. We're writing great songs. We're doing things how we want them done.

Are the songs new?
Sixty percent is new. Forty percent is stuff we had knocking about -- demos that maybe Chris had never drummed on or I had never sang on. Never have all four of us been on those songs before. "Wind Up Dream" and "The Morning Son" was knocking about…

When you say "knocking about," does that mean they are actually old Oasis songs?
No way. Me and Gem always used to go to Wheeler End [Oasis' studio in rural England] and do demos. We went through all the demos, and it was obvious which were ours and which ones were the little fella's. How? They were the good ones.

The little fella? How is life without him?
The little fella's gone. I watch enough Sky News to know that we shouldn't have leaders. This band is four geezers all on the same page, wanting to make this the greatest band in the world.

Another new song, "Beatles and Stones," pays tribute to your heroes. What did you do for John Lennon's 70th?
I had a little drink. I didn't make a big deal of it. I didn't lie in bed naked or go for a fucking Japanese, if that's what you're on about.

"The Morning Son," what's that about?
It's about Jesus. It's about resurrection: "The morning son has rose." But most songs are about me getting to the end of the song and thinking, "Thank fuck that's over." I find words really hard.

Do you feel you've got something to prove?
No, I'm in the top two human beings on the planet.

Who else is there?
I dunno. Could be Elvis. Could be Gandhi. Could be the street sweeper. Could be you. We all think we're Superman from time to time. I feel like I've contributed. I feel like I've got kids off their arses. I think there's a lot of kids out there who have got something from our music.

Let's go back to the breakup in Paris in 2009. Say you don't smash Noel's guitar. Say you sort it out. If you could go back, would you?
No. Let's nail this down: This ain't no stopgap or side project. We're not hanging around waiting for the little fella to come to his senses. By the time he does that, we'll be flying.

What's he doing?
Recording probably. I'll check it out when the time comes. We share the same management, so I'm sure he's had a little listen to ours. Whether he likes it or not, who cares?

What do you miss most about him?
I'm not pleased we're not talking, but I want to do things the right way -- my way, for once. Noel used to have the big vision. Sometimes he treated us like his fucking backing band. Some of the videos we did were fucking shocking. "Lyla," for example -- we look like fucking Culture Club on shit acid. This time 'round, we're in control of the details.

What don't you miss?
Oasis was done. Even a blind man could see it. It was: new record, do the videos, big tour, have a fight. I'm glad that routine has come to an end.

Noel had a baby in October. Didn't you send a card?
A lot of people have kids. He's not the first and he won't be the last. I wished him all the best through me mam.

Your clothing label, Pretty Green, has done well. What am I going to experience wearing your gear as opposed to, say, Jay-Z's Roca-wear?
You're going to be fucking arrested wearing his gear and you're going to pull a really nice-looking bird wearing mine.

So, we'll never hear Oasis live ever again?
No. Never. I'll miss them songs, but they are in me head. They are in my life deeply already. In my DNA. But Beady Eye can't start banging out fucking "Live Forever," can they? Never say never, but…no.


"It's not about getting beaten and 'See you later.' It's about getting beat, getting up, dusting yourself off, and smashing the fuck out of the next person you see in front of you."
Liam Gallagher is talking about the possible return to the ring of his good friend the boxer Ricky Hatton, but he might as well be referring to his own reaction to the spate of backhanded compliments for his first post-Oasis record. His new band, Beady Eye, whose line-up includes all remaining members of Oasis except for his brother Noel, were written off by many critics and fans long before a single note had been released.

"I'm surprised that people were surprised that we'd make good music without Noel Gallagher," he tells me, indignant, from a hotel room. "I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that people think Noel Gallagher is the brains behind everything."

Last month's release of the album (Beady Eye Records) marks a new era for Gallagher and former Oasis members. Some critics are backpedaling from their preliminary conclusions and conceding that the album is not half bad. Diehard Oasis fans compare it favorably to the band's work in the 2000s. "I've been doing this for 18 years; Gem's been doing it longer. They know how to write music - and I certainly know how to sing. We know how to put on a gig and we know how to write a tune."

Noel's bailing on Oasis just 18 months ago - on the heels of another legendary altercation between the siblings prior to a gig in France - has done nothing to stymie Liam's musical cocktail of Kinks, early Stones, and of course, Beatles influences. Beady Eye certainly keep alive the Oasis tradition of eschewing the reinvention of the wheel in favor of throwing new rims on a road-tested rig of melodies.

"Our musical journey doesn't stop because Noel Gallagher jumped ship," Liam says. "We've got to get back on track, and I was never nervous about it, really. I loved Oasis, but to split Oasis up was out of my hands. I'd have carried on doing Oasis, but you've got to do what you got to do."

Comparisons with the 'Sis are inevitable, though by now irrelevant. After 1995's masterful (What's the Story) Morning Glory? - the second half to one of the most successful one-two album punches in pop-music history - you had to dig to find any sonic gems in the sawdust of the five albums that followed. It's no secret that Noel ran the show as songwriter, but the album is perhaps more consistent than any recent Oasis release, in part because Liam was invested in it from the outset. "Normally, Noel would do all the guide vocals, so I'd be listening to his voice pretty much all the way through the bloody album, and then I'd sing at the end. I think the playing would sort of go around Noel's voice, and as much as he's great and all that, he's not rock and roll, is he?"

And there it is. As if on cue, and with no prodding: the first chip shot at big brother's expense. Almost two decades in and it's just as entertaining to watch this sibling rivalry still rage. "Me and Noel can't get on with each other. He thinks he's fucking God, I think I'm God — it doesn't work. We never really had an argument about music; it was always about personal things. It's a shame that in the end that broke the band up, but at the end of the day, I think it's better off for everyone. You change as you grow up, and maybe Noel isn't as rock and roll as he once was, and maybe he's scared of being in a rock-and-roll band and wants to take things a little bit easier and sit on his hill and be Bob Dylan. That's fine, mate, but you're never gonna get me sitting on a fucking stool playing acoustic guitar. I need to explode when I'm on that stage."

Behind the microphone stand is the spot where this Gallagher is at his best. Hands clasped behind his back, knees slightly bent, neck craned with a disaffected preen - it's a posture that's been both imitated and ridiculed. Liam flourished belting out the multitude of Oasis classics over the years, but those are songs he promises are forever in the rearview.

"I sang them to death," he says of "Wonderwall" and "Rock 'n' Roll Star." "If I didn't have a band, I'd be missing them, without a doubt. I gave Oasis everything and more, so I don't feel like I had anything more to give. I mean, I could have, but I have a new batch of songs now, and I'm quite happy singing them. And why the fuck should we sing his songs? We write our own."

Beady Eye tracks and the odd cover fill the live set, and reviews for an initial series of European dates have been mostly positive. To Gallagher, relying on the Oasis back catalogue is akin to "sleeping with your ex-missus." But he insists his brother will revisit the hits when Noel's pending solo career launches. "He'll take great pleasure in letting everyone know what songs he wrote and what songs he sang on, and he can top off his little set list with all his new songs. So that guy will be playing for three hours boring the fucking life out of people. We don't. We just hit people with an hour, and it's great."

So far, just three live dates in North America have been confirmed: New York, Chicago, and Toronto in early June. More are expected to be added, but if and when a Boston date is set, we might not find Gallagher out sauced on the streets. He's pulled back on the shenanigans that once cost him his front teeth in a German bar brawl, as well as getting him thrown off a ferry in Amsterdam, and leading to numerous entertaining, albeit dodgy, shows. "Yeah, without a doubt," he says when I suggest that he's dialed down the partying. But he adds a disclaimer: "Not to the point where it's all Chris Martin and you're in slippers or whatever and debating cheese and shit. We still have a party, but we only stay out three days now instead of four."

Told this piece will be hitting stands on St. Patrick's Day, the biggest day of the year in Boston to throw down a gaggle of pints, he reflects on his lineage as the youngest of three born in Manchester, England, to Irish emigrants. "They're just fucking amazing people, aren't they? They don't take themselves that serious, they just like to have a good time, and they're brutally honest, which is great. That to me makes a great person - what more do you fucking want?"

When asked whether maybe a decade down the line he'd be up for an Oasis reunion headlining, say, the Glastonbury Festival, Gallagher says that would be admitting Beady Eye had been a failure. "I don't want to get Oasis back together. We had a great run. We ended it with stupid behavior, and I'm not proud of that, but that's the way it was."

Besides, he adds, any Oasis reunion "certainly wouldn't be fucking Glastonbury, because it's a shithole. They ought to put all that fucking money they make and buy a decent fucking sound system. You can hear people speaking in the crowd when you're on stage - what's that about? Fucking rubbish."

Talk then inexplicably shifts to UK pop group S Club 7, a Gallagher obsession. "I'd be more excited about them getting together than Oasis," he gushes. "People would come around to it in the end. S Club 7 Juniors at Glastonbury, headlining - that's what I want."

Maybe knowing him Lennon was an idiot, I wouldn't got on well with him and would have hated him. People speak too much of his life, pacifism, and so on, I'm interested only in his songs.

My Italian friends are cool, they wear wonderful clothes and shoes, fabulous scarves, sunglasses even at night and beautiful women by their side. Well, I'm considered quite a holy figure in Italy, It's Milan... Italy's great man, I fucking love going there.

..... Balotelli ahahaha and City symbol on Noel's guitar :). This tune was my alarm clock to wake up in the morning from '97 to 2000. At a 1997 gig after the first chord of 'Be here now' I was literally flying, gone fuckin' mad fer it, continuously shouting and jumping embraced with all the people. Best fun of my life.

A new Milan part with strange skyscrapers is gonna be called 'City Life'.
In his 'Tales From The Middle Of Nowhere', Noel refers to Italy as the bands’ 'spiritual home' and anyone who has been to an Oasis gig in Italy will know why. It’s fitting that Oasis have chosen Milan to stage the final show...
